George Carlin RIP

Legendary stand up George Carlin has died age 71 of heart failure. George started doing stand up in the fifties and worked right up until his final gig in Las Vegas last weekend.

George started as a regular nightclub act but after seeing Lenny Bruce he changed his act and spent the next 40 years or so pushing boundries and more importantly making people laugh and think at the same time.

George’s best known routine ‘The seven words you can’t say on television’ was actually responsible for the introduction of the broadcasting watershed after it was played on a New York radio station. Predictably George was arrested several times for obscenity.

Here’s a couple of clips of George doing his thing. Firstly the legendary ‘Seven Words’ routine and then his wonderful take on the ten commandments. The obvious age difference in these two clips demonstrate an incredible consistancy in talent from this remarkable man. Thank you George.
