Vicar St, Fri 5th of Oct.
After flying back from Cork this morning and vowing never to drive to gigs again I spent the day online looking for flights from Ratoath to Vicar St. So much for the World Wide Web, useless pile of shite.
So, like some kind of barbarian, I drove into Vicar St for the show with Jason. Ah but you can’t stay pissed off for long when you’re performing in Vicar St. It is still comedy’s most pleasurable experience. I have to say as well that our rider has improved over the last few months. It’s all very fancy. Too fancy in fact. I got very hungry while Jason was on and milled a load of biscuit things and cakes. I got that horrible kid on Halloween feeling. Next time we’ll have to insist on a sliced pan, a packet of Easi-singles and a jar of Branston Pickle. Maybe a bit of Hazlet as well.
As with a couple of weeks ago Bernard O’Shea performed a short guest slot in the show and as with a couple of weeks ago he was brilliant despite admitting on stage in front of a thousand people to something he’s sworn us to secrecy a few minutes before.
The highlight of tonight’s show, well one of many highlights, was Jason’s magic trick. Following on the success of his floating man trick he unleashed his ‘sawing a punter in half’ trick. Even better than the floating man. Fantastic.
The other downside of not being able to find a plane to take me to and from Vicar St meant I had to leave a dressing room full of booze and drive home. Had a few more biscuits to make up for it though.
