Vicar St, Fri 4th of Jan
Vicar St days are always special memorable days. This day was even more memorable because we had five inches of snow outside my house and the surrounding environs of Ratoath. This was all the more amazing because when I spoke to people a couple of miles away about it. They said ‘What snow?’.
By the way when I say five inches of snow I actually mean five inches of snow. I don’t mean the usual Irish version of ‘Oh we had five inches of snow’ which usually means a light frost. This was actually five inches deep everywhere. As demonstrated by this picture of my back garden.
The brilliant thing was the snow fell on the night of the 3rd at about 9.30. Which meant there were kids being dragged out of bed at 10 o’clock at night to play in the snow. At 10 o’clock the green in our estate was packed with kids. By 10.30 you couldn’t move for snowmen.
Everyone loves a bit of snow. I asked the crowd in Vicar St. if they’d all love if it snowed again that night. They all said yeah. ‘Hang on’ I said, ‘bear in mind that when ever it snows, without a shadow of a doubt some old people die. Do you still want it to snow’. ... YESSSSS!!!!! came the overwhelming reply.
The gig with Jason in Vicar St was great of course. It was completely packed. It was everyones last big Christmas hooray before life came back so everyone was determined to have a laugh. And laugh they did. Especially at the finale when we acted out a radio play with members of the audience as the cast.
The best part was I had a lot of friends in for the show and because of ridiculous new years resolutions we had not one but two designated drivers. So we all had a lift home except for the hardcore resolutioners who jogged home.
