Drogheda, Thurs 6th Sept
Another day another new venue. We did have a gig at this venue in May but this was my first time here. Applying my usual criteria to venues this one is a sure-fire winner being as it is a 25 minute drive from my house. Although it did lose a few brownie points due to Drogheda’s insane one way system.
It was Jason Byrne and myself tonight and as Jason said afterwards ‘that was the worst best gig ever’ or possibly the other way around but either way he was right … on both counts. It was a great gig and one you come off feeling quite proud and exhilarated because it was a gig that could be described as a plate spinner. It was a show we had to constantly keep on top of. It could have went off at any point but in the end it didn’t and it was pretty wonderful.
It’s a gig that I hope continues because it’s a great room and they really were a great crowd. They just need to rearrange the room and start an hour earlier. And the best thing about the night was I got home in time to watch a few episodes of Prison Break on Sky+.
