Mike Wilmot
When comedian Mike Wilmot was asked by a journalist in his native Canada what would be his dream way to spend a week his response was somewhat obvious.
‘Well it’s got to be doing gigs’ he replied. ‘I don’t mind where too much but it’s got to start in Tullamore, Co. Offaly in the middle of Ireland. Man that place rocks. I would have to start my perfect week at the Bridge House in Tullamore.’
‘I don’t really mind where I go after that although obviously it would have to include Carlow, Wexford and Clonmel. Yeah if I got to gig at them places that would pretty much nail it for me. I could die a happy man.’
Well luckily for Mike the good people at the Lisa Richards Dream Foundation have been working round the clock to make his dream come true. And luckily for the good people of Tullamore, Carlow, Wexford and Clonmel they have achieved that aim.
Canadian comedian Mike Wilmot jets into Ireland for one week only, well he jets in, walks 6 miles to the terminal building from a field where Ryanair land somewhere on the outskirts of Co. Dublin, reclaims half his battered suitcase from the baggage hall, finds out the other half’s in Minsk, gets ripped off by taxi driver, gets on a train to Tullamore where on behalf of Ianroid Eireann somebody apologises for the delay, falls asleep, misses his stop, ends up in Galway and puts a taxi drivers kids through college getting back to Tullamore in time for the show where such a frustrating prelude actually makes for one of the most hilarious week of shows of all time.
Mike Wilmot is an award winning comedian, collecting the prestigious Australian Comedy Award, the Barry Award at last years Melbourne Festival. The Barry Award is the equivalent of Estonia’s Guffaw Cup. Respect indeed, I’m sure you’ll agree.
‘Leaves the audience in a state of hilarity that most comedians can only dream of’ – The Sunday Times.
Any comedian who judges his time spent on stage not by looking at his watch but by how much alcohol he has comsumed is a welcome addition to the Lisa Richards Comedy Circuit.
‘At times Raucous, offensive and downright crude, he was nevertheless very, very funny’ – The Scotsman.
Mike has played to audiences in every corner of the world. They all agree on two things. Firstly they never laughed so much in one hour in their entire lives and secondly he’s the most hard hitting, controversial, profane, intoxicated comedian they have ever seen. This is a show not to be missed just don’t bring the kids. Unless you’re just a really bad parent.
